Dear Colleagues and Students,
We would like to invite graduate students to participate in the 3-Minute Thesis (3 MT) competition to take
place at the ISSF 2022 in Montreal, Canada.
Details:
The 3MT competition is an excellent opportunity for graduate students to showcase their research and
significance to a non-specialist audience in three minutes. It challenges their ability to communicate and
present complex aspects of their research to a general audience in an engaging manner, using only one
slide within 3 minutes.
Eligibility:
Students interested in competing must be currently registered in a thesis-based Master’s or PhD program.
Presentations must focus on research in the area of Supercritical Fluid Technology.
How to participate:
Any students interested in the competition must submit a one-page abstract by April 27, 2022 to
marleny@ualberta.ca. Ten students will be selected to present at the conference and will be asked to
register online at the early bird registration rate to confirm their participation in the 3MT competition. The
10 selected students must attend the ISSF2022 in person and bring with them a single PowerPoint slide.
The 3MT competition will be held on May 17, 2022, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
Awards:
• First prize: C$ 1000
• Second prize: C$ 500
Some tips:
• Think about an interesting and unexpected fact about your research that you would like to share.
• Include a story that can help build an emotional angle to your research.
• The title of your slide can be a question or your actual title.
• Be clear about the focus of your research.
• Keep your presentation points simple and concrete.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
With Best Regards,
Marleny
